Program Description:
The Medical Transcription Programis designed to provide the technical and personal skills necessary for a graduate to obtain entry-level employment as a Medical Transcriptionist. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates should be able to perform accurate handling of documentation, storage and retrieval of a patient’s medical data; follow proper rules and guidelines for medical office etiquette, State and Federal rules and regulations; describe the importance, content, purpose and confidential nature of medical reports; transcribe medical reports using the correct report format, capitalization, numbering, punctuation, abbreviation, symbols and metric measurement rules; correctly spell and define English and medical terms either by memory or by using a dictionary/reference book; identify and/or define the knowledge, skills, abilities, and responsibilities required of medical transcriptionists.
